John van der Put & Piff the Magic Dragon - The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the year 2010


John van der Put has worked as a contemporary magician for the past fifteen years. One of the youngest magicians ever to lecture at The Magic Circle, he was crowned IBM Close-Up Champion in 2009 and has created magic for David Blaine, Pepsi and the National Theatre. As ‘Heston Blumenthal’s Magician’, he has created the magic for, and performed exclusively at The Fat Duck, the acclaimed, three Michelin starred restaurant. He is the official magician of the Experimental Food Society - formed to front the UK’s most talented gourmet artists.

His alter-ego, Piff the Magic Dragon, is a former Hackney Empire New Act of the Year finalist and Edinburgh Fringe favourite. Piff recently appeared in the West End as part of La Soiree (formerly La Clique) and performed a sell-out run in Australia,. Accompanied by Mr Piffles, the World’s First Levitating Chihuahua™, Piff returns to Ediburgh in 2011 with his new show “Last of the Magic Dragon”.
